Ian started his career in Melbourne, Australia as DJ Ian B promoting and hosting his own radio show on KISS 90 FM. He relocated back to London in 1995, hooking up with top house outfit DREAM TEEM (Radio 1), honing in on his production and remixing skills on their house label imprint DF—but not before doing his first commissioned remix for S-Express ”The Return” (Rhythm King) back in 1996. Early on in London, Ian changed his artist name to DJ Farouche and continued his production and remix career at Essential Studios (Hoxton Whores) working alongside Gary Dedman and remixing diverse artists like Michael Jackson, Massive Attack, Alison Limerick, Ice T and David Bowie, all while releasing tracks under the monikers Amnesia All Stars and Outbound, the latter being the name he used when remixing the huge anthem, “I Wanna Be U” by Chocolate Puma and “Outbound Dub” (Cream Records). !

He also produced his own material. ”I Won’t Let U…” (No Bull Records) was released featuring a sample taken from ”Le Freak” (Chic) and also featured the awesome vocal talents of V Wray (N-Trance, Toolroom, Simon Webb). After the success of this, Farouche went on to remix several more Chic tracks, as requested by Warner Music (2008 – 011). Farouche won an American-based remix competition of ‘Take Me Away’ (Detroit Authentic Records) which gained a worldwide release on the label’s remix album and led to the ongoing “154 Music Show” on Till Late Radio, spinning the best in house music from all over the world with fellow DJs such as Paul Van Dyk, Mark Knight and more.!

Scorch Felix LiveFarouche remixed the classic “Fine Day” (Kinky Rowland) which gained massive industry support and saw him sign to Fatboy Slim’s label Southern Fried with his first release for the label, “Full Frontal” (released in 2009 and went into the Cool Cuts charts at No. 13), all while doing remix duties for the likes of Tonka (Southern Fried) and having a full release schedule on labels like Cuetip (Germany), OS Records (UK), Miss Moneypenny’s and featured on numerous compilations. !

In late 2013, Ian dropped his DJ Farouche moniker for Scorch Felix, which he feels is more in line with his current musical style of an electro/progressive hybrid. Today, Scorch Felix has a weekly radio show Frequent Radio every Friday night. His single “All I Want” Daniel Portman Remix (Absolutely Records) reached No. 5 on Beatport’s minimal chart in April 2013, and also reached No. 2 on DJ Tunes minimal chart and No. 39 on DJ Tunes electro chart. On April 23, he released the original DJ Farouche song, “My Life” (Gaya) exclusively on Beatport.!
