The multi platinum act responsible for 3 billion global streams of his 5 hit singles launches a monthly radio show ‘Electronic Nature’, expect to hear exclusive material and a reflection of the latest upfront dance tracks that feature in his DJ sets.
In 2015, Blue released a tropical house cover of Tracy Chapman‘s 1988 single “Fast Car“. It was his debut single and features the vocals from Dakota.
The Jonas Blue version peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart, behind Zayn Malik‘s “Pillowtalk“. Its UK peak meant it charted higher than Chapman’s original, which peaked at number five on the chart in May 1988 and a position higher upon a re-release in April 2011. It also remained in the top 10 for 11 weeks.
The Jonas Blue version also reached number one in Germany, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand, as well as reaching the number one spot on the US viral chart on Spotify. The single has been certified Platinum in Italy and the UK, 2× Platinum in New Zealand and 3× Platinum in Australia. To date, the track has been streamed over 580 million times on Spotify, and has achieved over 310 million views on Vevo.
On 3 June 2016, he released a new single titled “Perfect Strangers“, featuring JP Cooper on Virgin EMI Records. To date, his second single has been certified platinum in the UK, double platinum in Australia and gold in New Zealand. The track also led to Blue reaching one billion streams across his tracks and videos. On 28 October 2016, saw the release of his third single titled “By Your Side“, featuring British singer Raye, again on Virgin EMI Records. On 5 May 2017, he released the song “Mama“, which featured Australian singer William Singe.
London-based electronic dance producer Jonas Blue (born Guy James Robin in Essex, England) caught the attention of the industry with his reimagining of Tracy Chapman‘s 1988 hit “Fast Car.”
Adding a tropical house tint to the plaintive, bittersweet acoustic original, Blue enlisted the talents of young British singer Dakota, whose sultry vocals helped carry the song to the top of 17 international charts, including number one slots in Australia, Scotland, and both the U.K. and U.S. dance charts.
In 2016 Blue released “Perfect Strangers,” the follow-up to his global smash, featuring JP Cooper on vocals. The single landed in the Top Ten internationally and was followed by “By Your Side” with Raye. The following year he issued “Mama,” his collaboration with Australian pop vocalist William Singe. That track would appear on Electronic Nature: The Mix 2017, a compilation of favorites from the DJ’s own live sets. In addition to his own hit singles, the collection included his spins on songs by Galantis, Zedd, Ellie Goulding, Disclosure, and more.
